Jungle Chronicles #3: ENTERING THE JUNGLE
It takes a while to get to the jungle. We have got to the outskirts of it close to the city of Baños. The life around us became more vivid, the colours became brighter and the sounds of birds and crickets, the ones of the rivers and the rain are already singing the most beautiful songs.
As you are reading this I am (hopefully) already in LLanchamacocha, with the Sapara tribe of our dear friend Manari Ushigua, and we have all made it together.
The thing is - when you go to the jungle you stop having control - you are reminded that you are dependent of the forces greater than you. So even though we think we are flying in at the specific time, we actually don’t know - it is the weather that needs to allow it, and sometimes we need to wait for the rain to stop so that the plane can take-off. When? Nobody knows.
The second day of preparations was even stronger - the ride through magnificent Ecuador, changing sceneries and altitudes, meeting incredible indigenous Quechua medicine man Alonso and his wife medicine woman Julia, having lunch with them, listening to the stories, being surrounded by incredible nature and the presence of medicine. I could feel my whole body responding as he showed us medicine prepared for the ceremony for next weekend. And then he said “Don’t worry, you guys are only having lunch with me today”. :) the sense of humour of medicine people… it really gets hilarious sometimes.
As I was taking a moment on my own on the edge of the plato, I could hear radio in the other house playing Cariñito from Los Hijos del Sol. Made me smile.
After lunch with Alonso and Julia we have arrived in our little mansion just outside the Baños. What a wonderful and colourful place. We had a dance session with Ya’Acov and Susannah, to really land, really tune in, and really open our hearts to already connect to the jungle.
What a gift to be here with them, to go back to the forest with them. What a gift.
My night was very alive, as it mostly is in and around of jungle. Dreams coming at full power and full speed, and me going through the awake and semi-sleep state. Another life is happening there. I have always been connected to my dreams, but here, on these lands it is x1000. No wonder because we will be visiting Sapara and Achuar tribes, both dream keepers and dream nations.
So, dear ones, you won’t hear from me for a while, and I am happy to be in a moment without any kind of signal, screen or digital device. Sending you love from the Forest, and wishing you well, wherever you are!
